AppleInsider is reporting that Apple will hold a Special Media Event in mid to late September ushering in new OS X based iPods. They suggest that plans call for as many as four (4) new models, all with NAND flash.
Sources in the Far East — where Apple manufacturers its digital music players — have recently vouched for sightings of a “full screen” iPod, which they believe will finally make its debut ahead of this year’s holiday shopping season. The players are said to run a derivative of the Mac OS-based iPod software introduced as part of the company’s iPhone handset back in June.
iPods should come in 2 flavors, touch-screen and traditional click-wheel, which employ the leaked interface which was seen on MacRumors and later pulled per Apple’s request.
The site also suggests that Apple is forming the foundation of yet another digital device family in 2008.
